L’Ou com Balla 2024: Corpus Christi
The tradition of L’Ou com Balla, dating back to 1637, returns to the courtyards of Barcelona during the Corpus Christi festival. This custom consists of making an egg dance in the exits of cloisters, courtyards and gardens decorated for the occasion with floral motifs and cherries. This tradition is deeply rooted in Catalonia, being the only place in the world where the egg is currently danced.
This year, the celebration will take place from May 30 to June 2, coinciding with the 600th anniversary of the Barcelona giants. The festival includes exhibitions at the Ethnological and World Cultures Museum, the House of the Archbishop and other emblematic spaces. Visitors can enjoy the dancing egg in places such as the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, the Pedralbes monastery, and many more.
